Method

Retrospective review of the admission proformas of 20 random patients was done - without prompting the admitting team to strictly comply to the ‘Take 10” principles. Education was provided to the next surgical on-call team, who were encouraged to fill out the proforma and carry out the post-take ward round using ‘Take 10’ principles. A relook retrospective review was carried out on a subsequent 20 random patients after 4 weeks. The results from both weeks were compared.

Conclusions

The implementation of the Take 10 checklist during the post take surgical ward round, resulted in improved documentation on the emergency general surgery admission proforma.
