Abstract
We present our perspective of recent terahertz (THz) time‐domain spectroscopy (TDS, THz‐TDS) studies leading to structure‐THz property relationships for three distinct glass families, that is, borosilicate, tellurite, and chalcogenide glasses. We have carried out comprehensive structural studies using spectroscopy techniques, for example, nuclear magnetic resonance, infrared, and Raman spectroscopy, with THz‐TDS used to record the refractive indices and absorption coefficients at THz frequencies. These results have culminated in structure‐THz property relationships, which are critical for targeting, selecting, and processing glasses for a wide range of THz optical and photonic applications.
