Xylaria thyrsus: An endemic species from India

Xylaria thyrsus is a terricolous fungi growing living on or in the soil or ground. with long singly growing rhizo-morphs. It was reported for the first time from Royal Botanical Garden, Kolkata. in the year 1843, as Sphaeria thyrsus Berk. Later on it was, reported from Pune, Chandigarh, etc. As this species has not been reported from any other country. it is considered as an endemic species to India.
