Why Do We Need Industry 6.0? A Scientific Overview of the Underlying Tenets

Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, global citizens have realized the buried significance of human–machine symbiosis (drawback of Industry 4.0) at each stage of trade and commerce, which has pronounced the era of Industry 5.0. Yet, a novel transformative force is on the verge as the present industrial revolution is facing challenges regarding attributes like a shortfall of regulatory concerns, misalignment between consumer expectations, and inadequate environmental standards. Besides, aiming innately at resource utilization, the doctrine of Industry 5.0 is reciprocally responsible for unseen environmental hardships and consequently fails to meet comprehensive sustainability parameters. By reconnoitring several secondary research studies (n = 63) from copious, well-recognized, and standardized databases, this qualitative investigation divulges the core values of the forthcoming industrial revolt. Our inspection first identifies insufficiencies or central pitfalls in current industrialization and later discusses the probable philosophy of the imminent industrial uprising or Industry 6.0. A group of experts’ opinion has also been sought for further clarity on the review findings. Henceforth, with futuristic judgment, this chapter will provoke innovative thoughts, ideas, and actions to ensure its meaningful execution in the diverse business arena. Besides, this study advocates a robust argument for redefining the sustainability themes for impending strategic inference. The authors additionally envision that the new industrial ambiance will reform consumer behaviors where consumers will be more cautious toward ethical or sustainability bounds and vice versa. Essentially, the literary work widens new arrays of investigation as well as pursues to alter the readers’ traditional mindset from random automation.
