Visual Rehabilitation After Secondary Intraocular Lens Implantation: Clinical Principles and Rehabilitation Strategies

Faheem Raja, Preeti Rao

Abstract

Visual rehabilitation after secondary intraocular lens (IOL) implantation is a critical process for both children and adults who have undergone this surgical procedure. This review provides an overview of the indications for secondary IOL implantation, preoperative decision-making, available surgical techniques, postoperative management, and associated complications. Literature for this review was obtained from textbooks, online databases, and peer-reviewed ophthalmology journals. Secondary IOL implantation can significantly improve visual outcomes with appropriate patient selection, meticulous surgical planning, and comprehensive postoperative care.
