Variability in AKR Mouse Leukemia Mortality

Leukemia mortality data for AKR mice are presented for 3 control groups and 2 experimental groups given syngeneic thymus injections. Significant variation in age at first deaths and in rate of dying was observed between groups in both control and experimental series, which could not be accounted for by treatment differences. Early leukemic deaths were associated with small thymuses and lymph nodes. Potentially controllable variables may be important in the onset and progression of AKR leukemia.
