Abstract

Adult intussusception is an uncommon cause of intestinal obstruction and usually indicates an underlying pathological lead point. Jejunal involvement is particularly rare and often presents with nonspecific symptoms, leading to diagnostic delay. We report a 43-year-old woman with features of subacute intestinal obstruction. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography suggested small bowel intussusception with a lead point. Surgical exploration revealed jejunal intussusception requiring segmental resection and primary anastomosis. Histopathology demonstrated an inflammatory fibroid polyp (Vanek’s tumor).
