Urbanization-Induced Evolution of Soil Physicochemical Properties: An Environmental Psychological Analysis of Mental Health Effects and Driving Factor Identification

Objective
Urbanization alters soil physicochemical properties and urban ecological environments, which in turn affect residents’ mental state and trigger psychological pressure, endangering mental health. This study analyzes the evolution characteristics of soil physicochemical properties in urbanization, explores its environmental psychological driving mechanisms, aiming to reveal the correlation between soil environment, psychological pressure and mental health, and provide a basis for ecological construction and mental health protection.
Subjects and Methods
Taking soil samples and 120 urban residents in different urbanization areas as research objects, soil physicochemical properties were tested, and questionnaires were used to investigate residents’ psychological pressure, mental health status and environmental perception, combining statistical analysis to explore the coupling relationship between soil properties and psychological indicators.
Results
Severe soil degradation in high urbanization areas is associated with residents’ high psychological pressure and poor mental health, and negative environmental perception exacerbates unstable mental states; improved soil physicochemical properties and good urban soil ecology effectively reduce residents’ psychological pressure and optimize mental health levels.
Conclusions
Soil physicochemical property evolution in urbanization is an important environmental factor affecting residents’ mental health, with environmental perception mediating the relationship between soil environment and psychological pressure. Optimizing soil physicochemical properties and improving urban soil ecology can alleviate psychological pressure, stabilize mental state, and protect urban residents’ mental health.
