The temperature-gradient–induced Hall-like response has been reported in chiral tellurium; however, whether it originates from a static magnetization remains unclear. Here, we perform zero-field muon spin rotation (μ + SR) measurements on single-crystalline Te under a temperature gradient. No muon spin precession or static relaxation is observed. From the experimental sensitivity and dipolar-field estimates based on calculated muon stopping sites, we place an upper limit of 0.05 mT on the local magnetic field, corresponding to a magnetic moment smaller than 2 × 10 −4 μ B per Te atom. These results rule out a static bulk magnetization induced by temperature gradient as the origin of the Hall-like response.
