Unveiling Pigment Dispersion with Zentmayer Line

Lipi Mittal, Divya Singh

Abstract

We present a case of a 22-year-old patient who expressed interest in refractive surgery to reduce spectacle dependence. On routine examination, a pigmentary line, known as the Zentmayer or Scheie’s line, was noted on the zonules of the lens fibres. This line gives an important diagnostic clue about pigment dispersion syndrome, which can lead to raised intraocular pressure and subsequent optic nerve changes. This case highlights the importance of detailed routine examinations to safeguard patients’ long-term outcomes.
