Polyether ether ketone (PEEK), as a high-performance specialty engineering plastic, has seen its application in catalysis largely confined to the introduction of active functional groups via surface postmodification strategies. Herein, we report a method to directly embed triphenylphosphine moieties into the PEEK backbone, affording a Pd@PEEK-PPh3 functional material through copolymerization from inexpensive monomers and subsequent loading with a low amount of palladium acetate. Applied to the hydrosilylation of internal alkynes, this heterogeneous catalyst delivers excellent catalytic activity and outstanding regioselectivity, and significantly outperforms its homogeneous counterparts and the vinyl-polymerized triphenylphosphine polymer.
