The purpose of the study is to substantiate the structure of the transitional pedagogical profile of a nine-year-old swimmer at the completion of the initial sports training stage. Research methods and organization. Analysis of scientific and methodological literature and regulatory documents was used, along with materials from a three-year observation of 129 male swimmers who underwent repeated examinations at the age of 7–9 years, and the results of sports-pedagogical control of general and special preparedness. Research results and conclusions. A functional differentiation of the information of comprehensive control into normative, empirical-dynamic, and contextual-pedagogical blocks is proposed. The normative block reflects the fulfillment of regulated requirements; the empirical-dynamic block combines the characteristics of the achieved preparedness with data from previous control; the contextual-pedagogical block clarifies the individual conditions for interpreting the results. Indicators of different purposes are not reduced to a single rating of the athlete. The transitional pedagogical profile is intended for structuring the results of control in accordance with their pedagogical function and for identifying components requiring subsequent observation. Its application does not replace the established procedure for transition to the next stage of sports training.
