The role of environmental awareness and perceived local government participation in the sustainable use of forest resources: A study on forest villages in Akdağmadeni district

Ayşe Esra Hakverdi
This study aims to evaluate the sustainable use of forest resources in forest villages within the framework of the environmental awareness level of the public and local government participation. Forest villages hold a critical position in terms of natural resource management because a significant portion of their livelihoods come from forest products. In this context, the research examines the awareness level of the villagers regarding the forest ecosystem, their sustainable use behaviors, and their perception of participation in the decision-making processes of local governments. The research is designed based on a quantitative method, and a structured questionnaire is used as a data collection tool. Based on the data obtained, the study aims to reveal the relationships between environmental awareness, the way forest resources are utilized, and trust in local governments through statistical analyses. It is expected that the study will contribute to the development of sustainable forest management policies, offer suggestions for strengthening local participation mechanisms, and provide a scientific basis for strategies to increase the level of environmental awareness in forest villages.
