The Psychological Impact of AI-Driven Organizational Innovation on Member Identity and Mental Health in Academic Communities
Jinliang DongAbstract
Objective
This study investigates how AI-driven innovations in organizational activities influence the psychological identity and mental health of members within academic communities. It aims to explore the dual effects of technological integration on members' sense of belonging, organizational commitment, and psychological well-being.
Subjects and Methods
A mixed-methods approach was adopted, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews. A total of 380 members from 15 academic institutions participated in the study. Quantitative data were collected using the Organizational Identity Scale (OIS) and the Mental Health Inventory (MHI-5), while semi-structured interviews provided in-depth insights into members' experiences with AI-supported organizational activities. AI applications included virtual discussion platforms, intelligent learning systems, and data-assisted decision-making tools.
Results
The integration of AI tools significantly enhanced members' organizational identity (mean score increase from 3.2 to 4.1, p < 0.01) and positively correlated with mental health indicators (r = 0.68, p < 0.05). Approximately 25% of members reported initial technostress, which diminished with adaptive training. Qualitative analysis revealed that AI-driven activities improved engagement but required balanced human-AI interaction to maintain psychological comfort. Members experiencing better human-AI interaction patterns showed 30% higher psychological resilience.
Conclusions
AI-driven organizational innovations strengthen members' psychological identity and mental health when implemented with adequate training and human-centric design. Academic institutions should prioritize tailored AI applications and psychological support to maximize benefits while mitigating technostress, thereby promoting sustainable technological adaptation in academic environments.
