The Next Intelligence

Mario Jacober

The future of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is defined not by faster algorithms but by deeper integration with human work. This chapter explores the next frontier of AI evolution from agentic systems that act with purpose to collective and neuro-symbolic intelligence that blends reasoning, learning and collaboration. It examines how embodied AI and human–machine interfaces will extend intelligence into physical and cognitive spaces, reshaping how organisations operate and people perform. The discussion contrasts today's narrow, task-bound systems with the aspirational concept of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), outlining both accelerators such as computing power, simulation and global research and barriers including alignment, bias and public trust. By separating myth from reality, the chapter highlights that progress in AI is not only technical but also profoundly human. The question ahead is not how intelligent AI can become, but how responsibly we guide its integration with human work and decision-making.
