The purpose of this study is to examine the mediating role of boreout in the effect of digital transformation on the work alienation levels of public sector employees and to develop some recommendations that will be useful for employers and employees in line with the findings obtained. Although there are studies in the literature that address the concepts of digital transformation, work alienation, and boreout (boredom at work) separately, no study has been found that examines the interaction of these three concepts with each other. This study is important because it is the first of its kind in this respect. The research was conducted using the survey method, which is a quantitative research technique. The research sample comprises 419 public employees working in institutions within Yozgat Governorate. The questionnaire form was created by combining scales that have been used in the literature and have undergone validity and reliability analyses. The JAMOVI package program and its add-ons were used to test the research hypotheses. As a result of the analyses, it was determined that boreout has a mediating role in the interaction between digital transformation and work alienation. In light of the findings obtained, recommendations have been developed that are considered valid and guiding for both private sector employees and public institution employees and managers. It is also believed that the findings will contribute to discussions in the literature.
