The Mechanical Anisotropy of Low-density Cellular Plastics

Foam chemicals are processed in a wide variety of physical and chemical conditions. Nevertheless, it is essential to achieve a correct balance between the mechanical properties of the foam. An important factor in the load-bearing capacity of a foam is its degree of mechanical anisotropy. This paper describes a method which attempts to quantify the modulus anisotropy of low-density cellular plastics.
