The Latest Therapeutic Targets and New Drug Research of Metabolic Dysfunction‐Associated Steatotic Liver Disease

Metabolic Dysfunction‐Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD), as the most common chronic liver disease globally, is seeing a steady rise in incidence alongside the widespread prevalence of obesity and metabolic syndrome, which is a big challenge for public health. Although lifestyle interventions are basic treatment methods, their efficacy is limited, and there is a pressing need for better and more effective drug treatments. In recent years, research into how MASLD works has gotten deeper, leading to the development of various targeted treatments that tackle different aspects, including lipid metabolism regulation, inflammatory responses, and the fibrosis process. This article takes a close look at the new drugs that have been approved and those currently in clinical trials for the treatment of MASLD, and also talks about the latest research models for MASLD. Furthermore, the article discusses potential future therapeutic targets and innovative drug development directions, with the goal of giving practical guidance for managing MASLD to help push forward progress and real‐world applications in this area.
