Abstract

Sleep is a biological necessity and is essential for physical health, mental well-being, learning and quality of life. Sleep is one of the key determinants, along with nutrition and physical activity and can influence both physical and psychological well-being, which, in turn, can impact an individual’s mood. The mood usually returns to normal once sleep quality improves. Interventions such as sleep education, behavioural change methods, relaxation techniques and psychotherapy have been found to improve sleep quality. Poor sleep quality can disrupt daily activities and lead to negative moods, including anger, frustration, irritability and sadness. Therefore, efforts should be made to improve sleep quality to prevent mood issues.
