Guanhua Liang

Abstract

Objective

Prolonged psychological pressure and abnormal emotional states often impair mental health and destabilize an individual’s mental state, which may interfere with cognitive processing such as language comprehension. This study aims to explore the regulatory effect of different psychological and emotional states on the speed and accuracy of language comprehension, and clarify the correlation between mental health status, psychological pressure and language cognitive ability.

Subjects and Methods

Taking 100 healthy adults with different psychological pressure levels as subjects, psychological scales were used to assess their mental health and emotional states, and a language comprehension test was conducted to record response speed and accuracy. Statistical analysis was adopted to explore the quantitative relationship between psychological pressure, emotional state and language comprehension indicators.

Results

High psychological pressure and negative emotions significantly reduced the speed and accuracy of language comprehension, and impaired mental health was associated with poor language cognitive performance; positive emotional states and low psychological pressure stabilized mental state, and effectively improved the efficiency and accuracy of language comprehension processing.

Conclusions

Psychological and emotional states are key factors regulating language comprehension ability, with psychological pressure and mental health status acting as core mediating variables. Alleviating psychological pressure, maintaining positive emotions and protecting mental health can stabilize the cognitive mental state, which is crucial for improving the speed and accuracy of language comprehension.
