The History of the Exploitation of Salt Deposits in Romania

Abstract

This work presents useful, rich and well-structured information on the history of the exploitation of halite in Romania, throughout periods in the history of the Romanian people in the Carpathian-Danubian-Pontic space: Dacian, Daco-Roman, post-Roman, after the 10th century and up to the present. References are made to the salt trade in the European space and a brief review of the techniques and technologies of salt extraction. The work concludes with a nomination of the main saline, which worked on the territory of our country in different historical periods.
