The Financial Crisis and Global Supply Chains
Robert N. MeffordThe financial crisis of 2007-2009 has caused multiple problems for global supply chains. This article explores the effects of the crisis on global supply chains and the measures that firms are taking, or can take, to deal with these effects. Three major effects are discussed: financial problems, logistical problems, and cost effects. Differences between product and service supply chains are considered as well. Potential longer-term consequences for global supply chains conclude the article.
