The family embeddedness of women’s entrepreneurial activity

Read here for key insights from four decades of academic research at the nexus of gender, family, and entrepreneurship. In two prior Open Access Government publications, Professor Jennifer Jennings from the University of Alberta shared findings from research conducted by her doctoral students, Omima Elkailani and Samira Jafari, respectively, on women entrepreneurs in violent conflict zones and in Islamic contexts. In this article, we see how she collaborates with both students to synthesize the past 40 years of academic scholarship at the nexus of gender, family, and entrepreneurship. A fuller version of this synthesis was invited for potential publication in an upcoming Oxford Handbook of Entrepreneurship and Gender.
