Abstract

Nanotechnology has fundamentally transitioned from a theoretical concept into a clinical reality within oral health care, establishing the multi-faceted field of nanodentistry. This review provides a holistic and critical synthesis of the evolving nanodentistry landscape. It maps the historical evolution of nanotechnology, categorizes dental nanomaterials based on their chemical nature , and delineates the specific design requirements governing top-down and bottom-up engineering fabrication paradigms. Furthermore, it highlights recent modern advances—including biosensors, quantum dots, self-healing nanocomposites, peroxide-free nanowhitening, and green synthesis frameworks.. Ultimately, this comprehensive update serves to prepare the contemporary dental workforce for the molecular-scale tools of tomorrow.
