The article explores the catalytic potential of the emerging class of Janus-type di-N-heterocyclic carbenes that have attracted attention in recent times. The article details different aspects of these Janus-type di-N-heterocyclic carbenes particularly from their classifications, expansion in synthesis approaches, to finally their utility in different homogeneous transformations.
