The Effects of Self-Compassion, Perceived Organizational Support and Violence Experience on Burnout among Psychiatric Nurses: A Cross-Sectional Descriptive Correlational Study
Geun Young Kim, Ji In KimPurpose: This study aimed to examine the relationships among self-compassion, perceived organizational support, experiences of violence, and burnout in psychiatric nurses.Methods: The participants included 171 psychiatric nurses recruited by the researcher from psychiatric inpatient wards and an outpatient departments. Data were collected using a structured self-report questionnaire between August 9 and September 12, 2024.Results: Hierarchical regression analysis identified perceived organizational support (β=-.23, p=.001) as a negative predictor of burnout.Conclusion: These findings underscore the importance of perceived organizational support in mitigating burnout among psychiatric nurses. Consequently, healthcare organizations should develop strategies at the organizational level to ensure that psychiatric nurses feel their contributions are valued and their well-being is supported.
