The Effects of Nanoparticles on Plant Growth, Fruit Yield and Quality, and Production Economics in Strawberry Cultivation

Hülya Sayğı, Gülsevim Tiring

In recent years, in strawberry cultivation, a significant part of agricultural production, nanoparticles (NPs) composed of elements such as iron (Fe), silver (Ag), zinc (Zn), copper (Cu), selenium (Se), titanium (Ti), and nickel (Ni) have been used to improve resistance to drought and salinity stress, promote efficient plant growth, increase yield, and enhance plant resistance to diseases and pests. This study aims to evaluate the effects of using NPs on plant growth, fruit yield and quality, and production economics in strawberry cultivation. The research method is a literature review, a secondary data collection and analysis method. The research materials used include national/international and public/private scientific studies, published articles, journals, and books, as well as the opinions and evaluations of experts on the subject. According to the study findings, the use of NPs in strawberry cultivation increased plant growth, fruit yield/quality, adaptation and resilience to environmental conditions and provided a sustainable income in economic terms. The study findings concluded that if the risks of water and soil pollution associated with NPs are reduced through appropriate NP production methods and correct application doses, NPs will be used more widely as new production technologies that reduce environmental/production costs in agricultural production.
