In this study, AA5754 matrix SiC-reinforced surface composites were produced using the friction stir technique to improve their microstructural properties, wear resistance, and surface hardness. The effect of the number of passes on these properties was also investigated. Homogeneous particle distribution could not be achieved with single-pass production. Production with two and three passes using the friction stir technique was successfully achieved. The surface hardness of these SiC-reinforced surface composites showed an increase of 16% and 22%, respectively, compared to the AA5754 aluminum alloy. The wear resistance of the AA5754 aluminum alloy increased by 34.2% and 45.9%, respectively, with the production of SiC-reinforced surface composites in two and three passes.
