Objective: to evaluate the effect of laser radiation and corneal topography parameters on the effectiveness of treatment of small choroidal melanoma Material and methods: 31 people (31 eyes) with small choroid melanoma were examined and treated, with an average age of 64.2±11.7 years. All patients underwent corneal topography of both eyes using an ANTERION device (Heidelberg, Germany) to assess the central corneal thickness, corneal diameter, average degree of keratometry, average spherical aberration, and standard deviation of higher-order aberrations. The patients underwent laser coagulation of tumor lesion, the follow-up period was 6.1±1.4 months. Results: 17 (54.8%) patients had successful treatment in the form of a chorioretinal flat scar, 14 (45.2%) patients had insufficiently successful treatment, and a residual tumor remained. When evaluating corneal topography parameters before, after, and 6 months after laser treatment, it was found that the indicators of average keratometry and corneal diameter did not change. There was a slight increase in corneal thickness and higher-order aberration indices on the first day after laser treatment and a decrease after 6.1 months. Our work also shows that the effectiveness of treatment directly depends on the corneal thickness (the thinner the cornea, the lower the effectiveness of laser treatment). In the group of patients with a thin cornea, the frequency of scarring after laser treatment was significantly lower compared with patients with a thick cornea (p<0.05). Conclusion: Corneal topography indicators can be regarded as predictors of the effectiveness of small choroid melanoma laser treatment. Changes in keratometric parameters in the pre- and postoperative period were not statistically significant. The thickness of the cornea affects the results of choroidal melanoma laser treatment. Long-term studies with a large number of patients are needed to confirm these findings.
