The DECam MAGIC Survey: CaHK photometric metallicities for stars in the Sculptor dwarf spheroidal galaxy

We examined photometric metallicities for more than 3,000 stars in the Sculptor dSph galaxy, using the new CaHK filter from the DECam MAGIC Survey. Our sample significantly exceeds the number of members analyzed by the largest spectroscopic work conducted so far. It allows us to determine and compare the metallicity distribution function of the Sculptor dSph galaxy with the ones presented in the literature. It will also be used to validate the MAGIC metallicities before the technique can be extended for detailed studies of other galaxies in the Local Group.
