The Biographical Inscription from the Tomb of Khuwy at Djedkare’s Royal Necropolis
Hana VymazalováThis article presents several fragments of a self-presentation (biographical) inscription from the tomb of Khuwy at South Saqqara. The inscription was carved in sunk relief and was most likely originally situated near the entrance to the chapel. Even though only small portions of the text have survived, they exhibit features characteristic of the so-called ‘ideal’ biography. The inscription also mentions the names of the king Djedkare and the queen Setibhor, but no further context is preserved in relation to them. The tomb, burial, and funerary priests are also referred to in this inscription. These brief surviving passages seem to indicate that Khuwy described the preparations for his eternal abode and the arrangements for his funerary cult, having received certain privileges from the king and queen.
