The Anglican Church of Australia; Always in Communion? Section 6 of the Constitution

Abstract

This article examines the constitutional situation of the Anglican Church of Australia (ACA) in relation to the Church of England. It examines the development of the Constitution of the ACA and reflects on the meaning of s 6 of that constitution and whether or not the ACA is always in communion with the Church of England. Reflections and conclusions are made in light of the recent statements from Global Fellowship of Confessing Anglicans suggesting that the ACA is no longer in communion with the Church of England. The article concludes on the basis of the constitutional evidence that the ACA is always in communion with the Church of England.
