The ancient central population
Anke Ardern-ArentsenAbstract
The oldest stars in the Milky Way are expected to have a high density in the inner few kpc, spatially overlapping with the Galactic bulge. I will briefly summarise how to find the most metal-poor stars in this challenging region, and what their kinematics and chemistry are like. I specifically highlight the relevance of carbon-enhanced metal-poor (CEMP) stars.
