The Alchemy of Love: A Multidimensional Lens for Spiritual and Existential Resilience
Niluka HettigeIn an era marked by global uncertainty, emotional fragmentation, and existential anxiety, there is a growing need to rethink how individuals cultivate meaning, inner strength, and spiritual well-being. This study proposes The Alchemy of Love as a multidimensional psychological and philosophical framework that positions love as a transformative force capable of restoring coherence across emotional, cognitive, spiritual, and existential domains. Drawing from Positive Psychology, existential philosophy, affective neuroscience, and contemplative traditions, the paper argues that love, understood as a state of deep relational attunement, compassion, and inner expansiveness, acts as a generative energy that nurtures resilience, self-transcendence, and spiritual grounding. Through a narrative, thematic synthesis of interdisciplinary scholarship, the study identifies how love broadens awareness, dissolves egoic constraints, enhances emotional regulation, and strengthens one’s capacity to navigate suffering with grace and purpose. It concludes that cultivating love-based practices such as reflective presence, mindful compassion, and relational openness offers a powerful pathway for individuals and communities to transcend existential fear, reconnect with their spiritual core, and build enduring resilience amid complexity and change.
