Abstract:

Surgical removal of the eye, or enucleation, is a life-altering procedure indicated in cases of trauma, malignancy, or intractable ocular disease. Given that postoperative recovery involves both significant physical and psychological adjustment, painted ocular conformers placed immediately after surgery play a crucial role in holistic healing while preserving socket anatomy. Herein, we explore the benefits, challenges, and clinical management of temporary painted ocular conformers following enucleation, as well as advancements in materials and production techniques that enhance patient outcomes.
