Teach with Passion and Trust Your Scholarly Instincts
Sandra Harbert PetrulionisABSTRACT
This article briefly offers advice to graduate students, junior faculty, and scholars, based on my experience of teaching undergraduates for over thirty years. I encourage you to gain as many practical skills as possible while in graduate school so that you can present an array of classes to teach. I also advise you to mentor your students in every way possible at this extraordinarily challenging time to be in the academic Humanities job market. And finally, I suggest that young scholars trust their instincts when encountering what sounds like an error in a senior scholar’s work and that they check and doublecheck every source before citing it.
