TBAI-Catalyzed Oxidative Coupling of Ethers with Quinazoline-3-oxides for the Synthesis of Quinazolin-4(3 H )-ones

Abstract

A tetrabutylammonium iodide (TBAI)-catalyzed oxidative coupling reaction between ethers and quinazoline-3-oxides is described. The transformation proceeds under mild, metal-free conditions using tert-butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP) as the oxidant. This simple and efficient protocol enables the convenient synthesis of structurally diverse quinazolin-4(3H)-one derivatives with moderate to excellent yields.
