Tall stature in children
Suchit Gupta, Aashima DabasTall stature is an uncommon endocrine disorder in childhood and is concerning when height is more than two standard deviations or 97 th percentile of the mean for age and gender. The most common etiology is familial or genetic causes. Pathological causes include endocrine, genetic, or syndromic disorders. A good clinical examination is necessary to identify the underlying etiology. Accelerated growth velocity, dysmorphism, and developmental concerns should alert for an associated pathological cause. The management in benign variants is reassurance, while it is specific to the underlying etiology in pathological tall stature.
