Abstract

The development of lightweight and flexible materials with high-impact-resistant performance remains a critical challenge under dynamic loading conditions, including precision instruments, electronics, and military defense systems. Herein, carbon fillers with distinct dimensionality are incorporated into polydiborosiloxane (PDBS) to construct composites with tunable viscoelastic behavior and excellent impact resistance. Increasing filler dimensionality not only retains the specific shear-stiffening viscoelastic behavior of PDBS but also significantly enhances the energy-dissipation capability and impact-resistant performance of the composites. Notably, the composite with large-size graphene achieves a high impact-force attenuation rate of 92.2% under low strain-rate impact while maintaining a strength of 48.8 MPa and a toughness of 24.2 MJ/m3 under high strain-rate impact. This work highlights the critical role of filler dimensionality in tailoring the viscoelasticity toward high-impact-resistant composite materials, thereby offering potential for efficient protection under dynamic loading conditions.
