Synthesis, Characterization, and Antibacterial Properties of Novel Fluorene‐Triazole Hybrids

These were subsequently converted to the corresponding triazolium salts with the use of methyl iodide. The new derivatives were characterized by NMR, IR, UV, and mass spectrometry. Four new crystal structures, two triazoles and two triazolium salts, were recorded and discussed. Moreover, all ten derivatives display photoluminescent properties. These were analyzed, and it was found that the new triazolium salts display large Stokes shifts of around 120 nm. The triazolium salts were also tested for antibacterial properties against Gram‐positive Staphylococcus aureus and Gram‐negative Escherichia coli and were shown to possess bactericidal properties, while two of the five tested derivatives displayed lower minimum inhibitory concentration values than the reference antibiotic Levofloxacin.
