Synthesis and Characterization of the Molybdenum Carbonyl‐Functionalized Zintl Ions [(η 4 ‐Pb 4 )Mo(C
Michael Witzmann, Nikolaus KorberThe crystal structures of [Na([2.2.2]crypt)] 2 Na 2 [(η 4 ‐Pb 4 )Mo(CO) 3 ] · 8.7NH 3 and Na 6 [Pb 4 {Mo(CO) 3 } 3 ] · 22NH 3 are reported. They contain the novel transition metal‐functionalized Zintl ions [(η 4 ‐Pb 4 )Mo(CO) 3 ] 4− and [Pb 4 {Mo(CO) 3 } 3 ] 6− that can be related to previously reported lead clusters via the isolobal principle. Nudged elastic band calculations are employed to propose a possible formation mechanism for [(η 4 ‐Pb 4 )Mo(CO) 3 ] 4− .
