Synthesis and characterization of bisimide and tetraamide cyclobutane compounds via [2+2] photocycloaddition of maleimide using a UV light approach

Simple and scalable UV photochemistry offers a straightforward route to cyclobutane bisimide frameworks from maleimide. These compounds can then be readily converted by ammonolysis into tetraamide-functionalized cyclobutane derivatives.
