For years, I believed that a successful career came from pushing harder to prove myself – longer hours, being always available, publishing, and presenting at conferences. As a scientist, a mother, and a woman in STEM, I thought stress was the price of success, but I was burned out because I was failing at it all. It took reaching my breaking point to realize that the system wasn't the only thing that needed to change, I did too. I learned that I had more agency, more choice, and more power to create the life I wanted (not should want) than I knew was possible. That realization became the spark for Synergy Scientific, a coaching and consulting company that helps people in STEM build the strategy, emotional intelligence, self-care, and communication skills that we were never taught.
