Susan C Mapp

Abstract

The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of 2015 are explained as a path to address varied social issues discussed in this book. The chapter discusses the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), which preceded the SDGs, along with a review of their achievements, before discussing the achievements of the SDGs to date. The Pact for the Future and its goal to improve global governance to make it more effective and inclusive is discussed with its hoped-for impact on SDG achievement. The chapter discusses the relevance of the SDGs for social workers and suggests actions that social workers can take to help achieve the SDGs.
