Synthetic analogs of trehalose-6,6-dimycolate (cord factor)—trehalose-6,6-dipalmitate, sucrose-6,6-dimycolate, methyl-6-mycoloyl-α-D-glucopyranose, methyl-6-mycoloyl-β-D-glucopyranose, and trehalose monopalmitate—induced granulomas in the lungs of mice similar to those caused by cord factor. The growth of Ehrlich ascites tumor cells in mice pretreated with cord factor and its analogs was stongly inhibited.
