Ceftazidime/avibactam (CAZ‐AVI) is an important therapeutic option for multidrug‐resistant (MDR)
Pseudomonas aeruginosa
infections; however, hypersensitivity reactions may preclude its use and create significant therapeutic challenges. We report a 21‐year‐old woman with cystic fibrosis and recurrent MDR
P. aeruginosa
pneumonia who had a clinically suspected immediate hypersensitivity reaction to CAZ‐AVI. In the absence of effective alternative antimicrobial options, a 13‐step rapid intravenous desensitization protocol was performed under intensive monitoring. The patient subsequently tolerated full‐dose CAZ‐AVI therapy with marked clinical improvement. Rapid desensitization may represent an effective rescue strategy for patients with CAZ‐AVI allergy when applied under strict clinical indications and multidisciplinary supervision.
