Successful Management of an Uncommon Case of Manubriosternal Joint Arthritis with Platelet-rich Plasma
S. Keshava Karthik, Jeshnu Prakash TopleManubriosternal joint (MSJ) pain as a cause of anterior chest wall discomfort is rare and often remains undiagnosed. Typically, MSJ pain suggests the presence of an underlying systemic arthritis. We report the case of a 28-year-old male who presented with anterior chest wall pain and was subsequently diagnosed with MSJ arthritis. The patient was successfully treated with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) after a failed attempt of conservative management. Given its regenerative properties, PRP holds an advantage in treating conditions such as osteoarthritis and cartilage degeneration. Reports of monoarticular MSJ arthritis in the absence of systemic disease are limited. To the best of our knowledge, this case represents the first successful management of MSJ pain with PRP.
