Gastric volvulus is a rare but life-threatening medical emergency. Emergency endoscopic reduction serves as a crucial less-invasive option. However, conventional upper endoscopes often fail to achieve detorsion due to insufficient length and rigidity.
We report a case of gastric volvulus secondary to a large diaphragmatic hernia. Emergency endoscopic reduction was successfully achieved using a short-type enteroscope, which provided potential advantages in passive bending, torque transmission, and adequate length to safely pass the pylorus and reach the third portion of the duodenum. Following endoscopic detorsion and decompression, the patient underwent laparoscopic diaphragmatic hernia repair and anterior gastropexy with an uneventful recovery.
