STYLISTIC FEATURES OF MODERN BRITISH ENGLISH

This article analyzes the stylistic features of Modern British English based on lexical, grammatical, and pragmatic aspects. The study examines British English as a dynamic linguistic system shaped by historical development, social changes, globalization, and digital technologies. The research focuses on stylistic variations manifested across different speech registers, including formal, semi-formal, informal, and digital communication contexts. The article discusses the communicative and pragmatic functions of idioms, phrasal verbs, colloquial expressions, neologisms, modal verbs, tag questions, discourse markers, irony, and indirect speech strategies. The findings demonstrate that the stylistic diversity of Modern British English reflects its adaptability, national-cultural characteristics, and ability to respond to contemporary communicative needs. The study has significant theoretical and practical value for the fields of stylistics, sociolinguistics, pragmatics, and foreign language teaching.
