The low‐temperature corrosion behavior of 6082‐T6 aluminum alloy in 1.5% NaCl solution was investigated. The effects of low temperature on the corrosion kinetics and morphological features of the alloy were analyzed by cyclic wet‐dry immersion tests, electrochemical measurements and microstructure characterization techniques. The result indicated that the corrosion rate of 6082‐T6 aluminum alloy increased significantly as the temperature rises from 0°C to room temperature. The elevation of medium temperature primarily promoted the lateral propagation and coalescence of pitting cavities, leading to the corrosion characteristic of the increase in cavity width greater than depth direction. The combined action of thermal activation, micro‐galvanic coupling between secondary phases and the matrix, and chloride‐induced localized dissolution acts synergistically to undermine the passive film stability, resulting in a decrease in R ct and R f , and an increase in I corr .
